Oppo Find X Kills The Smartphone Notch With A Motorized Pop-up Camera

OPPO officially unveiled the OPPO Find X flagship smartphone in a big event in Paris.

It features a near bezel-less display with no notch, a pop-up mechanism for both front and rear cameras as well as flagship level specs including a Snapdragon 845 processor and up to 8GB of RAM and Full HD+ AMOLED 19:5:9 aspect ratio.

The front camera is a 25 Megapixel snapper with A.I. beautification while there’s a dual camera system at the back. This is composed of a 16 Megapixel main rear camera and a 20 Megapixel secondary rear camera.

OPPO Find X Pop-up Cameras

The top slider stays closed most of the time, which has the fun side effect of protecting the front and back camera lenses from smudges or scratches. The top opens whenever you open the camera app or whenever you need to authenticate yourself via the O-Face system.

OPPO claims that the mechanism can last up to 5 years without the user having to worry about durability.

The screen itself is a 6.4-inch OLED panel with 1080 x 2340 pixels or resolution. Its sides are curved while the corners are rounded.


OPPO Find X Flagship Specs

Aside from the pop-up cameras and the edge-to-edge display, the OPPO Find X also features flagship level specs. It runs on a Snapdragon 845 processor with Android 8.1 Oreo operating system.

There’s Face Recognition that uses an Infrared dot projector, not just the front camera.

A 3730mAh battery powers the device with support for 5V/4A fast charging.


OPPO Find X Price and Availability

The first release will happen in August, but Oppo hasn't said if that's for all countries or just its home country of China.

The official price of the OPPO Find X is €999 for the 8GB RAM/256GB ROM version.
